Die Ursache für diese schlechte Stimmung in der Bevölkerung dürfte nicht die mangelnde Leistung bzw. Leistungsbereitschaft von MigrantInnen sein. Sie kann vielmehr auf ein mangelhaftes Engagement im Feld der politischen Maßnahmen und der politischen Bildung zurückgeführt werden. So reiht der „Migrant Integration Policy Index“ (Mipex) Österreich auf Platz 24 von insgesamt 31 (überwiegend europäischen) Staaten ein. Thomas Huddleston is a policy analyst at the Migration Policy Group, a European think-and-do-tank. He coordinates MPG’s research for European cooperation on national integration policies, including the second and third editions of the Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) (published in February 2011) and the third edition of the European Commission’s Handbook on Integration.
