The latest Migration Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) was recently issued by the British Council and the Migration Policy Group, providing insight into the challenges and relocation issues that expats face when moving abroad.
This index specifically illustrates the level of integration difficulty for expats in Europe and North America. 27 EU member states, as well as Norway, Switzerland, Canada and the USA were ranked according to their immigration policies using seven categories and 148 indicators. The main categories for ranking the immigration challenges were employment opportunities, possibilities for family reunion, education options, political participation, long-term residence, access to citizenship and anti-discrimination policy.According to this index, the countries in which integration is easiest according to above categories are Sweden, Portugal, Canada, Finland and the Netherlands.
