In an attempt to investigate which countries resemble one another, we have applied cluster analysis on the extensive set of data the Migration Policy Group has provided. Using this analysis technique, the main finding is that the distinction between East and West seems to be persistent, with Western European countries adopting more liberal policies, while the countries in Central and Eastern Europe seem to prefer quite restrictive policies.
