Measures of intermarriages are commonly taken as indicators of integration or assimilation...The MIPEX indicators aim to assess whether the institutional setting of acountry is favourable to the integration of migrants. Hence, they are more a measure oflegal than of social integration, and they could be considered variables of context, describing the situation existing at a given moment (March 2007 and May 2010). Due to missing data, the comparison is based on 21 countries. Either using only the year 2007 or the average of the two surveys, compared respectively to the values of 2007 and to the average 2007-2009 of Z1, it does not change the outcome: there is barely – if any –positive correlation between the indicators, although, not surprisingly, it is more relevant for some specific dimensions, like eligibility to family reunion or acquisitionsof conditions of access to nationality...Read more
