Are Europe’s policies becoming more multicultural?

Politicians and academics are increasingly debating whether or not multiculturalism is dead in Europe. Analysing MIPEX, many of the policies labelled as multiculturalist are spreading across Europe’s recognised countries of immigration, due to national trends and EU anti-discrimination law. However the reasons why governments adopt these policies are often not at all related to the public recognition of diversity. Multiculturalism may be relevant for debates on cultural rights, but not for the many areas of integration and citizenship where governments can make it easier or harder for immigrants to participate in economic, family, social, and civic life.Read more on the MIPEX blog
